FRUCTOFIN® Fructose is up to 80% sweeter than sucrose, safe for diabetics (due to its lower GI when compared with sugar/sucrose), and has a high thermogenic effect, requiring more energy to metabolize than glucose, which helps curb hunger and supports lower calorie consumption.

Locally Sourced From Nature

Locally sourced xylitol sweeteners in IFF's product range.

Wood

XIVIA® Xylitol and D-XYLOSE are sourced from responsibly managed EU forests, certified by PEFC™ and/or FSC®, ensuring sustainable forest stewardship. Additionally, wood is transported by rail, further reducing environmental impact.

If 25% of xylitol

from corn cob-based used in chewing gum is replaced with our XIVIA® Xylitol, greenhouse gas emissions could be reduced by more than 210,000 tons CO2 e/year.  This is equivalent to planting more than 3.4 million trees.

  • Market use of xylitol in chewing gum estimated at 77,000 tons/yr. Reductions based on a 2023 update (without 3rd party verification) to a peer-reviewed LCA on both XIVIA® and xylitol from corn cobs. Equivalency based on  GHG equivalencies from the US EPA for tree seedlings grown for 10 years.

Beet Sugar

FRUCTOFIN® Fructose is sourced from beet sugar which grows in the EU under the highest quality and social standards, including FSA for continuous on-farm sustainability improvement and Ruokavirasto for ensuring food safety and animal welfare.

The beets benefit from short transport routes to processing sites, with high residual recycling of the entire beet.

IFF Kotka

IFF Kotka production site in Finland is BRGCS, Kosher, Halal, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified.

IFF sweeteners are produced using 60-70% of renewable sourced energy (steam and electricity). The target is to be 100% renewable by 2027.
