Subjects were randomized into three treatment groups in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The groups were supplemented with either placebo, B. lactis HN019™ at 5 billion CFU/day or L. paracasei Lpc-37® at 2 billion CFU/day. The children were supplemented for 9 months and followed the entire year. During the rainy season, diarrhea was significantly reduced in the B. lactis HN019™ group compared to placebo (p<0.05).
